Therapy for Women
We walk with women through every stage of life, providing a safe, compassionate space to navigate complex health challenges and life changes.
We walk with women through every stage of life, postpartum, mom guilt, perimenopause, menopause, and beyond, providing a safe, compassionate space to navigate complex health challenges and life changes. At KC Counseling Group, our Missouri-licensed therapists work with women across Lee’s Summit and the greater Kansas City area, in person and by secure video.
Much of what women carry does not announce itself. It shows up as the sense that you are the one holding everything together, as guilt for wanting something for yourself, as a body that has changed in ways nobody prepared you for, or as anxiety that only gets loud once the house is finally quiet. We work at depth rather than managing symptoms, so the change actually lasts.

What This Work Looks Like
There is no script. We start with a conversation about what is actually happening in your life right now, and we go at a pace your mind and body can handle. Because so much of what women carry lives in the body as much as the mind, your therapist pays attention to both.
Depending on what you need, the work may draw on somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Gottman Method work for your relationship, or psychodynamic depth work. Most of our clinicians are women, and you can choose the therapist you feel most comfortable with.
What We Support Women Through
- Postpartum adjustment, mom guilt, and the identity shift of early motherhood
- Perimenopause, menopause, and the mood and body changes that come with them
- Anxiety, depression, and high-functioning stress that hides behind a capable exterior
- Trauma, PTSD, and complex trauma, including experiences that began in childhood
- Perfectionism and the pressure of being the one who holds it all together
- Grief, loss, divorce, and major life transitions
- Neurodivergent and gifted women, including those diagnosed later in life
- Relationship patterns, boundaries, and reconnecting with what you actually want
If what you are carrying is not on this list, it still belongs here. Bring it to a free consultation and we will help you find the right fit.
Depth work, not symptom management
Plenty of practices offer surface-level talk therapy. We go deeper. Our therapists use depth-oriented and body-based approaches, including somatic work, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and psychodynamic therapy, to help clients reach the root of what they are carrying so that change actually lasts.
We are also neurodivergent-affirming, meeting each client where they are rather than asking them to fit a mold. And we stay curious instead of judgmental, making room for the parts of your story that are hardest to say out loud.
Why It Matters
Women are often the ones who notice everyone else’s needs first, which means their own can wait years for attention. Unspoken stress does not simply disappear. It resurfaces as exhaustion, resentment, anxiety, or a quiet distance from the people who matter most.
Therapy gives that weight somewhere to go, and it gives you a place where you are not managing anyone else’s feelings. You do not have to be in crisis to deserve support, and you do not have to have the words ready before you reach out.
Who We Serve
- Women navigating postpartum, motherhood, or the choice not to be a mother
- Women in perimenopause or menopause looking for support that takes them seriously
- High-performing women whose anxiety hides behind competence

We passionately believe that when you meet the person you were meant to be, you will realize you are pretty freaking fantastic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions people ask most before reaching out. If yours is not here, bring it to your free consultation.
Do I have to be in crisis to start therapy?
No. Many of the women we work with are managing everything reasonably well on the outside and are simply tired of doing it alone. If you are considering that counseling might be a good fit for you, that is reason enough to reach out for a free consultation.
Can I choose a female therapist?
Yes. We will help you match with the clinician you feel most comfortable with. Fit matters more than anything else in therapy, and the free consultation exists so you can find out whether it feels right before committing to anything.
Do you work with postpartum and perimenopause concerns?
Yes. We walk with women through every stage of life, including postpartum adjustment, mom guilt, perimenopause, and menopause. We are not a medical practice, so we work alongside your physician rather than replacing that care.
What if I have tried therapy before and it did not help?
That is one of the most common reasons people come to us. We work at depth rather than managing symptoms, using body-based and parts-based approaches that reach places talk alone can miss. If standard talk therapy has stalled for you, this is a different kind of work.
Do you take insurance?
We are a private-pay practice and an out-of-network provider, so your care is guided by what you need rather than what a plan will authorize. We accept FSA and HSA payments and can provide documentation you may submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement.
Can we meet virtually?
Yes. Our office is in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and we also offer secure telehealth sessions for clients located anywhere in the state.
